Text Talk? Oh My!

Language has taken a turn for the worse. Anymore, if you use manners, proper grammar, and well spoken words, you may very well find yourself being looked at strangely. I had Cody help me with this post because frankly, I could not do this on my own. I will give you the "teenager" version, and then the "proper English" version below. Bear with me here.

R: nmh u?
C: same, jus watchin tv. hbu
R: eatin goldfish. watcha watchin?
C: Batman Begins yo! tis awesome
R: i herd u jus got ur lisence
C: yup. i drove a bit 2day also. it was fun
R: yea i kno. ur dad told me bout it. he said he nearly died.
C: =P i think i did pretty gud.
R: k. gtg. ily ttyl
C: aight. ttyl call u l8r

Now, in English
C: What's up?
R: Nothing much is going on here. What's going on with you?
C: The same, really. I'm just watching television. How about you? What are you doing?
R: I'm eating a snack. Goldfish are amazing! What are you watching on the television?
C: The movie, Batman Begins. It is a very good movie. The critics raved over it!
R: So, I hear that you just got your learner's permit?
C: Why, I sure did! I've been wanting to get it for quite some time now! I'm so glad that I did! In fact, the test was not too terribly difficult. I actually got the opportunity to drive today for the very first time! It was an amazing experience. I am so thankful for such awesome parents! I had the time of my life!
R: I heard of this news! I am so proud of you, Cody. You have really grown up into a wonderful young man! Your Dad told me about your trip today. He said that you did a great job except for when you nearly killed him! I'm sure his heart can handle it for a few more years, at least! You'll get better with time, I'm positive!
C: My, how funny you are! I thought that I did relatively decent considering that this was my very first time behind the wheel. I think you're right. I'll get better with more experience.
R: Okay, well I've got to get going. I love you, bub. I'll talk to you later.
C: All right. I will talk to you later. I'll give you a call back on my cell phone.

I am glad that you all could benefit from reading this little snippet of youth. Maybe now, you, too, can read text speak!
