Week 38

Rebekah's Update for Week 38:

So, my Z-Pack took care of my sinus infection! I still have a little congestion, but I am feeling significantly better. Hopefully, we can stay healthy this time around.

I have to blame the pregnancy on this one, but I broke my toe again over the weekend. For some reason, my toes felt that they had to slam themselves into the corner of the couch. A few choice words and several tears later, my toe stopped throbbing long enough for me to waddle down the stairs 9.75 months pregnant with a broken toe to go to work. By yesterday, the pain in my toe was tolerable. Then, I stubbed it again yesterday morning and yet again last night! Stick a fork in me...I'm DONE! Please let Emily come SOON!!! I don't know how much more I can tolerate.

I was 2 cm dilated at my last doctor's appointment. Moving right along, it seems. I'll be happy when we can quit speculating on when we will FINALLY get to meet Emily. C'mon baby-cakes! We're all anxious for you to make your "entrance" into the world!

In case you all were wondering, I am still not sleeping for many different reasons. It seems to be a sore subject, so I'm going to just leave it at that.

I am very happy that my birthday will remain MY birthday, however. November 17th came and went without any additional kids being born into the Corley Clan, so there was a bit of relief on my part. Not to mention, we had tickets to see Trans Siberian Orchestra, which was, by the way, awesome!!!

Closing in now. We are due to have Emily at any moment. Who knows...maybe this is my last Weekly Update...Hmmm...

There is a bright side to having a girl that I'd not thought about until I saw this week's website update....we don't have to pay for a circumcision! Woo hoo!!!

**WARNING TO THE SQUEAMISH**
-This quite possibly is too much information for you-

This is the update from the Website: Week 38

Your Baby's Development
Your baby weighs about 6 pounds, 6 ounces (2,900 grams) by now and measures about 13.4 inches (34 cm) in length from crown to rump. Fat is still accumulating, although growth is slower now. You may notice that your weight gain has decreased or ceased.
Since your baby has had the muscles to suck and swallow amniotic fluid, waste material has been accumulating in his or her intestines. Cells shed from the intestines, dead skin cells, and lanugo hair are some of the waste products that contribute to meconium, a greenish-black substance that constitutes your baby's first bowel movement.
If you're having a boy, his testicles have descended into the scrotum, unless he has a condition called undescended testicle. If you're having a girl, the labia are now completely developed.

Your Body
Because your baby is engaged in your pelvis, your bladder is extremely compressed, making frequent bathroom trips a necessity.
Have you and your partner made a decision about circumcision? Circumcision is a surgical procedure to remove the foreskin of the penis in male babies. For some parents the decision to circumcise is a religious one. For others, the choice is not as easily made. Talk to your health care provider about the issues surrounding circumcision, including pain relief options for the baby.

Oh Rebekah! I'm so sorry! I feel for you. I think the end is just as bad if not worse than the throwing up mess. The good thing about her not being born on your birthday, is that you will never have to share that day. I'm a big brat that way! LOL
I hope she'll come before Thanksgiving, then you'll have room for turkey, and Rusty can hold her for a while!

Oh hun! I hate the end!!! Hang in there and make sure someone in the phone tree gets the report when you go. Benadryl baby on the insomnia problem. I used it every few days in the end so I could at least get some sleep. Insomnia was my biggest problem while I was pregnant. I fought it all the way through. I'll be praying extra hard for you , and have a great thanksgiving!!! love you and can't wait to see pictures of her!!
