Many of you know that Rusty and I had planned on going on an elaborate cruise this year. It would be the first vacation that we've had in over 8 years that would it be "just us" even if half of the family were going to be there. We had planned on ditching them, at some point! We were SO looking forward to it. We both were working on Weight Watchers, getting into shape, and preparing to have a margarita (or two)!
So, Carnival Cruise Lines has a rule that you are not allowed to go on the cruise if you are over 26 weeks pregnant or so. Guess what?! I'm 31 weeks pregnant. Naturally, we couldn't go even with much persuasion from the family. They suggested that I walk around with a bag of cookies and let people think that I am just fat! Nice, guys! Thanks for the advice. I knew that would never work, so we backed out of our cruise...probably the worst day of 2008. But then, they left for the cruise...without us. *Sigh* That may have been even worse.
They are there, right now, having a FREAKIN' BLAST, without us. I don't want anyone to take this wrong, but it's only human nature to hope for a hurricane and have them postpone the trip. What can I say? I don't wish them harm, by any stretch, but secretly, I wanted to go THAT BAD! I feel that I can speak for Patti here too. She was unable to go as well, so both of us have been sitting here, lonely, not on a cruise, but even worse...at work!
I've tried to be optimistic this week and look for the bright side of this situation. There are five "bright side" possibilities for me. I can't speak for Patti, but these still can't compare to a cruise. I have taken to "Cruisin' Around Tally" while searching for "bright sides".
Bright Sides (even if it is a stretch)
Only two of these are really valid, by the way...
- We saved money (at least $1500.00). (Not valid)
- We will spend our "saved" money on hospital bills from Emily being born. (Not valid)
- We got a lot of work done because we weren't playing online all day. (Not valid)
- We got to see Fall come to Tallahassee (Temps have dropped at least 20 degrees) (Valid)
- Rusty has a kidney stone. It would have sucked for him to have during the cruise. (Valid)
One day, I'd imagine, we'll get our chance. I just hope it's sooner than later. I know that everyone has had a really good time while they were on the cruise, and I'm glad...a little.
