Progress is Amazing!

This time last year, Rusty and I were worried about Rachel's progress in her schooling. She had had tendencies to act out in school, not pay attention, and do all sorts of things that we would consider to be inappropriate behavior before she came back to us.

I had a meeting with her ESE (Exceptional Student Education) teacher last Friday. I have made it very clear to all of her teachers that Rusty and I are doing everything that we can to get Rachel in to mainstream education. We feel that there is no need for her to be in "special" classes because her behavior is NOTHING like it used to be.

After the first 2 weeks of this school year, Rachel was moved from ESE monitoring to what I would consider to be a "check-in" basis. She only has to check in with her ESE teacher in the mornings because she is on that attendance roster. We were extremely happy with this move, but now, Miss Rachel has done what many considered to be impossible! Rusty and I knew that it would just take some time, but we never imagined that it would happen THIS FAST!!

Effective March 19, 2009, Rachel will be dismissed from the ESE program!!!!! She will no longer be "classified" as anything but a normal 3rd grader! Woo hoo!!! You go, girl!!! We are SO excited! This has been one of the BIG family goals since Rachel came back to us. Now, we just have to get her (and the other kids) through high school, and we'll have it made. I'm sure we'll have plenty of support from not only family and friends, but God has worked here in so many ways, that I am sure, 100%, that we'll be okay. And if not, everything will eventually be just as it is supposed to be.

Wow. What news!
